Last Friday I gave an online presentation titled “Blogging and More: The Ins and Outs of WordPress” on WizIQ.com as part of a seminar on “Web 2.0 for Blended Learning and Instruction”. The presentation gave an overview of how to customize WordPress using themes, plugins, widgets and custom coding.

The SETI project from Berkeley has been around for years. With unused PC cycles, the SETI software performed the math necessary to determine if telescope reading at Berkeley might contain data from extra terrestial signals. While that software (with the familiar black screen saver with the 3D bar chart) is no more, about a year the SETI project became part of an even bigger project. The BOINC project uses the same PC cycles from volunteers on a number of other projects, such as identifying new prime numbers, a genome project, etc. Read more about the whole phenomenom in this article.

Well, I guess maybe I used an old version of Word (2.0 anyone ?)

Version 15.5 of LISTSERV has arrived. (I think they already were on version 14 back about in the early 90’s when I first started using LISTSERV on a mainframe for the ULTRA list.) Though it’s been updated for the times (web-based archive, RSS feeds, etc.) the software is still used to power a LOT of online discussion groups.

Q Conference Presentation

Yesterday I made this presentation at the Q Conference held at the National Libraries of Medicine at the NIH in Bethesda. The paper is a preview of my dissertation that will focus on the development of a web-based tool to administer Q Methodology studies.
